【摘要】:Theshearstrengthofaspecimendependsonthesoiltype,normalconsolidationstress,timeofconsolidation,rateofstrain,andpriorstresshistoryofthesoil.Inthistest,theshearstrengthismeasuredunderconstantvolumeconditionsthatareequivalenttoundrainedconditionsforasaturatedspecimen;hence,thetestisapplicabletofieldconditionswhereinsoilshavefullyconsolidatedunderonesetofstresses,andthenaresubjectedtochangesinstresswithouttimeforfurtherdrainagetotakeplace.Theconstantvolume(undrained)strengthisafunctionofstressconditions.Inthistestmethod,thestrengthismeasuredunderplanestrainconditionsandtheprinciplestressescontinuouslyrotateduetotheapplicationofshearstress.Thissimpleshearstressconditionoccursinmanyfieldsituationsincludingzonesbelowalongembankmentandaroundaxiallyloadedpiles.Thestateofstresswithinthesimpleshearspecimenisnotsufficientlydefinednoruniformenoughtoallowrigorousinterpretationoftheresults.Expressingthedataintermsoftheshearstressandnormaleffectivestressonthehorizontalplaneisusefulforengineeringpurposes,butshouldnotbeconfusedwiththeeffectivestressparametersderivedfromothersheartestshavingbetterdefinedstatesofstress.Thevaluesofthesecantshearmoduluscanbeusedtoestimatetheinitialsettlementsofembankmentsbuiltonsaturatedcohesivesoilsduetoundrainedsheardeformations.ThedatafromtheconsolidationportionofthistestarecomparabletoresultsobtainedusingTestMethodD2435providedthatthemorerigorousconsolidationprocedureofTestMethodD2435isfollowed.5.6.1TheaxialdisplacementsmeasuredfromTestMethodD2435aresomewhatsmallerthanforthesimplesheartestbecausethespecimenrsquo;lateralconfinementislessrigidandthetopplatenisunabletorotate.5.6.2Theestimatedpreconsolidationpressureiscomparableprovidedthespecimenisloadedsufficientlyintothenormallyconsolidatedrange.5.6.3Therateofconsolidationiscomparable.1.1Thistestmethoddefinesequipmentspecificationsandtestingproceduresforthemeasurementofconstantvolumestrengthandstress-straincharacteristicsofcohesivesoilsafterone-dimensionalconsolidationusingaconstantrateofsimplesheardeformationmodeofloading.Theconstantvolumeconditionisequivalenttotheundrainedconditionforsaturatedspecimens.1.2Thistestmethodiswrittenspecificallyfordevicesthattestrectangularparallelepipedorcylindricalspecimens.Othermoregeneraldevices,suchasthetorsionalshearhollowcylinder,maybeusedtoperformconsolidatedconstantvolumesimplesheartestsbutarebeyondthescopeofthistestmethod.1.3Thistestmethodisapplicabletotestingintact,laboratoryreconstituted,andcompactedsoils,however,itdoesnotincludespecificguidanceforreconstitutingorcompactingtestspecimens.1.4Itshallbetheresponsibilityoftheagencyrequestingthistesttospecifythemagnitudeofthenormalconsolidationstresspriortoconstantvolumeshearand,whenappropriate,themaximumnormalconsolidationstress,whichwillresultinanoverconsolidatedspecimen.1.5AllrecordedandcalculatedvaluesshallconformtotheguideforsignificantdigitsandroundingestablishedinPracticeD6026.1.5.1Theproceduresusedtospecifyhowdataarecollected/recordedandcalculatedinthistestmethodareregardedastheindustrystandard.Inaddition,theyarerepresentativeofthesignificantdigitsthatshouldgenerallyberetained.Theproceduresuseddonotconsidermaterialvariation......
